20th Century Milwaukee Transit Weekly Passes

1

The design of these weekly passes for Milwaukee’s Transit System was utilitarian and banal until the 1930s, when the system purchased indoor production value and added a few publicized elements on behalf of local events and to illustratively depict civic history. These weekly passes stood out as colorful and cohesive, consisting of large hand-drawn numbers for the week, lettering for the valid range of dates and small-print information set in type, merging into a decoration of jaunty banners, frames and rules.
